Technology Bridges Gaps

Technology evens the playing field in the classroom.  With all the adaptive devices, any child can excel using technology.  I found a great wikispace all about assistive/adaptive technology.  The great thing is that all students will benefit from some of these devices.  Have a slow writer/keyboarder?  Voice recognition software/tools are an option.  Have small font on a website and need to focus in on a section for the students?  A magnifier is a great tool.  Did you know that SMART has a magnification tool?  If your district uses SMART tools then most likely you have access to the software and it has a magnifier.  Andrea Bodnari created a wiki with a wealth of adaptive technology links and information.

West York teacher, Jen Swope, who was awarded Teacher of the Year from Shippensburg University touted the benefits of technology in a recent interview for Cram Session.
